Last year of Halloween with my friends

The Last Year with my Friends!
The assignment for this week is to take an object or something like that from your game board that you made about three weeks ago. You have to do a childhood vignette about it.
That was one happy Halloween night with my friends. It was a dark and cloudy night. My friends came to call me to play outside. We were playing basketball outside. We were talking about what we are going to be that night for Halloween. Then my friend asked me, “What are you going to be for Halloween, Sai?” I said, “A magician.” At about 7:00, we went home to get dressed and start Halloween.
While I was walking home, I was thinking about next year’s Halloween. When I reached home, I went inside and asked my mom to get my costume for me. I was still thinking about next year’s Halloween. I was wearing my costume now and I felt like dummy. I looked nothing like a magician. I thought that my friends were going to start laughing and making fun of me. When my mom dressed me as a magician, she started taking photos of me. “Mom, don’t take a photo of me! Do you really want me to get embarrassed of how I look when I was a kid!? ” I yelled. My mom said, “ I am taking a picture of how you looked at this age. No one will laugh at you. I promise. If you still don’t want me to take a picture, I won’t show you any other pictures of anything.” “Oh fine, take a picture, but only one.” I grunted. Finally, after my mom took a picture of me, I went outside to start the night for Halloween.
Then I went to go get my friends that were nearby. Then I found them walking down the street coming to get me. I caught up with them, and then we started. Since Halloween time didn’t even start, we thought of doing a prank on one of the bullies who always falls for everything. We don’t like him because he always takes our stuff. We thought of doing something very special that would make him be scared. I found a toy cockroach on my pants of the costume, and I got a very good idea that would make him jump straight out of his Halloween costume into his underwear. When he came out of his house I jumped right at him, and he fell. That was our time. Our plan was to put the cockroach in his pants of the costume. So we went for it. It was quite hard cause because he was big, fat, and strong, according to us. After all we are in third grade and he is in fifth grade. But, mission accomplished. He started chasing after us but we got away because we were fast enough.
Then we got our bags and started trick-or-treating from the building we got away from, because everyone came from their houses and started to. We were going from building to building getting as much candy as possible. Then we saw the whole bully gang. The guy that we did the prank to was in there. I think he found out that it was just a toy. Since he saw us, we ran from building to building as collecting candy and running as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario and Luigi from Super Mario. And when we looked at our bags, I was happy we ran like maniacs. We had a candy bag that weighed about a ton. We had so much candy. My friends and I were talking till we got home, and then we left. When we got home I was like, oh my god! There goes Halloween. I went to the window and I said, “Bye, Bye Halloween. See you next year.” And there it goes. The time.

PATRIOTISM YOU ROCK!

DOES PATRIOTISM STILL MATTER?
By: SAI
Does Patriotism still matter?  This got me thinking and it is a yes.  When we got freedom, it was from our American Military.  Patriotism is a freedom for our U.S.  This word Patriotism reminds me of a lot of things.  Americans that were in the war, wanted to help us and to make  America in a better place.
Patriotism is a word that makes me give respect to the army and the military.  The army and the military is what gave us our freedom.  People who fought for us in the war is a hero. They did that for all the humans to be happy.  This Patriotism is a way that we got liberty.  Yes, Patriotism does matter and it will.  Patriotism was something that helped us years and years ago.  It helped us in lots and lots of wars.  I am sure it still matters because it helped us in the past, and I know it can help us during the present and the future.  In the future, if there are going to be any wars going on, I am sure Patriotism will be there to help us at any time we need help.  When you say Patriotism, the most important thing that everyone remembers and thinks that is related to Patriotism is our American Flag, and our soldiers that fought in the war for us to have nice freedom and to win the war, when my friends and my parents sometimes talk about Patriotism or things like that, the thing I remember about it is the flag and the soldiers just like I told you the way most people remember.  When we talk about the 13 colonies, that reminds me of the war and the other stuff like it.  Patriotism still matter because it helped us from getting hard from the war.
Patriotism matters a lot to me!

My Reaction on Ralph Fletcher's Excerpts

This week in Herbert Hoover Middle School,we were reading five excerpts from Ralph Fletcher's childhood stories. We heard some stories that were fun to hear and some that were emotional that were sad. For the
blog post that we are doing this week, my English teacher, Ms.Patalano, thought it was a good idea to do this as a post and see what we say about the excerpts that Ralph Fletcher wrote about. It was called Marshfield Dreams:When I Was a Kid.

In Marshfield Dreams:When I Was a Kid, he describes more about his childhood things that happened at his time. In each excerpt he describes a lot about that character, thing, or place. He uses a way technique that makes a way that everyone can read without using words that most people don't even know what they mean. The way he writes, shows that he is using 1st person point of view.

In one of his excerpts "Marshfield," he states, " The woods held magical things. We found snake skins, real Indian arrowheads, box turtles, beehives, snake spit on tall grass." (Fletcher, 2005, 4). In this excerpt and sentences, he describes what the forest behind his house has. He is explaining the things that he sees behind his house in the forest.

In one of his other excerpt "Bobby" he stated, "Bobby never got a chance to grow up. In his last year of high school he was killed in a car accident." This excerpt gave the reader an emotional feeling for the character that Ralph was mostly taking about in this vignette. Ralph made a way of making everyone give the character, Bobby, a sad feeling for when he died without having much experiences throughout his life.

Ralph Fletcher used a way of making everyone have a feeling in all the vignette/excerpt that he wrote based on his childhood stories and it had everything to do with him and surroundings.

THE OBJECT FROM MY BEST FRIEND!!!

Once my friend this year was moving to India. He didn't have enough room to take all of his stuff so he gave me some stuff so I can keep as a memory of him. He gave a lot of things to me that was his. Something my friend gave was something he really liked. It was a book. It was called Guinness World Record 2010. This book is informational and it is fun to read. This book tells you about the things that happened throughout the year, 2010. This book he likes because he it is informational to know about stuff happening in other places and it is really funny about what somethings look like. Since my friend really likes this book I keep it as my memory of my best friend.
